EWCC Hill Climb

This Sunday (18th Oct) sees the running of the EWCC Hill Climb. The course is up the Stoke Hill climb on the northern edge of the city.

Whilst it is now to late to enter, we’d love to see you there to support the riders and create some awesome atmosphere (bring your cow bells!). First riders set off at 10.00am.

Mamhead Hill Climb

The University of Exeter hosted the Mamhead Hill climb last Sunday (11th Oct).

This iconic climb that we all know and love (!) is a real test at 2.3miles (3.7km) gaining 212m in ascent.

There were plenty of Wheelers on the line to take on the challenge including Gideon Aroussi, Michael Mason-Saunders who came 1st in the junior category), Stuart Pollard, Graham Turner and Ayse Vahiboglu. With the top three riders counting, EWCC claimed 2nd in the team competition. Well done to all who took part.

Special shout out to renowned hill climber Andrew Feather (who beat a certain Tadej Pogacar up a Slovenian mountain last year) who won the event with a time of 8.14, and Illi Gardner, from Cardiff Ajax CC, who won the women’s event in a time of 9.53 (good enough for 8th overall).

SWCX League Round4 – Camel Cross, Wadebridge

After last weeks sunshine in Saltash this week were were back in Cornwall, but presented with grey clouds and light but persistent rain. This course included the first carousel of the year, this one a slightly weird egg shape, a fast gravel descent, a couple of steep climbs and a number of more draggy climbs.

EWCC were again represented across the differing races, with plenty of podiums:

  • Rudy Szender (U8) – 1st
  • Monty Higgins (U10) – 1st
  • Richard Taylor (M60) – 2nd
