Exeter Wheelers Cycling Club

About us

Exeter Wheelers Cycling Club (EWCC) was founded in 1924, and today has well over 200 members. We are primarily a road riding and road racing club, with a youth Exeter Wheelers Academy (for young riders aged 8 and over).

EWCC is affiliated to British Cycling, Cycling Time Trials, Audax UK, and the South West Cyclo-cross league.

Throughout the summer we run various events, including 10-mile club time trials, a number of criterium and road races, and an open hill climb towards the end of the season in September.

We offer a range of training and social rides throughout the year, including our

  • Wednesday night rides (~25 miles hilly social ride at ~13-17 mph – pace depends on route and the slowest rider);
  • Thursday evening race training rides (swift tempo rides in the winter, even swifter chain gang exercise in the summer).
  • Saturday Social ride (20-40 miles, the shorter the hillier; no drop ride at the pace of the slowest rider);
  • Sunday Club Runs (social ride, weekly throughout the year; 1-3 groups at different speeds (14-16 mph, 16 – 18 mph, 18- 20 mph);
